Seeing things differently
1. Contact VioVision to discuss your requirements.
2. Arrange an appointment. Typically a scans take about 30 minutes.
Preparing the instrument
Metal can produce artifacts (unwanted shadows) that obscure parts of the scan. So, there are a few things to consider to get the best quality scan:-
OPTION 1
The strings and other fittings are removed. The instrument is supported at the endpin hole and the neck-THIS IS BEST.
OPTION 2
The strings are replaced with pure gut to maintain the tension. Metal string adjusters and the chinrest are removed. The bridge is kept in place.
OPTION 3
The instrument is scanned with all the fittings on except the chinrest. This will be ok for the back but other areas may be partially obscured.
The data is downloaded on to a USB stick or DVD. You will then be shown how to view the images using the in-built programme that comes with the data. The instrument can then be taken away.
The scan data is analysed by VioVision and a report is issued within a few days. This can be tailored to your requirements depending on the reason for the scan.
